Upper and lower control arms are attached to the steering knuckle via ball joints. The socket bolts to the control arm. A ball in the socket allows for rotation and two dimensional movement of a tapered shaft that bolts into the steering knuckle. It is important to follow assembly manual torque specifications when tightening the castle nut. Impacting this nut onto the ball joint can create enormous stress in the spindle due to the taper in the shaft. Always lock the nut in place with a cotter pin to prevent loosening due to vibration.
All of our ball joints are stock rubber replacements and are available for many vehicles including
